Pondicherry Engineering College (PEC) – Pondicherry Overview

Pondicherry Engineering College (PEC) is an engineering college located in Pillaichavady at the East Coast Road. PEC was established under the VII 5 Year Plan and has been ranked at 76th in the Engineering Category according to the NIRF Rankings 2019. It is an autonomous college in terms of administration and staff recruitment. The college offers 8 undergraduate and 13 postgraduate programs. With a total of 12 departments, the college provides B.Tech and M.Tech courses in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering and several more specializations.

Admissions are offered on the basis of JEE Mains and GATE examination. Every year, the college’s intake is 450 in UG courses, 173 in PG courses and around 400 students are currently studying Ph.D. courses in different programs. The opening rank in 2019 JEE cut-off was 15725 and the closing rank was 35631.

Pondicherry Engineering College Admissions 

Candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria can apply for admission at the college. The students applying for B.Tech are given admission through CENTAC. The eligibility for appearing for counseling is based on JEE Mains. The admissions to Master’s courses are given on the basis of GATE Examination

• These include Hostels for Male and Female students. The male hostels can accommodate 270 students and the female hostel can accommodate 136 students.

Pondicherry Engineering College has a strong team of 155 highly qualified Faculty Members. 104 of these members hold Ph.D in their respective departments from reputed Institutions. The rest of the members hold Master’s degrees. All faculty members of the college are dedicated, skilled and well-versed with their subject matter. The faculty includes teams of Professors, Associate Professors and Assistant Professors across all departments. The teacher to student ratio at Pondicherry Engineering College is 1:14.
